Cyberthon.ai 2025 to combat emerging online threats kicks off

The Chandigarh Police inaugurated Cyberthon.ai 2025 on Friday on the Infosys campus at IT Park, Chandigarh, a flagship initiative to bolster cybersecurity innovation and equip law enforcement with cutting-edge digital tools. The event aims to address rapidly evolving cyber threats through collaboration between police, academia and the tech industry.

The event was inaugurated by Pushpendra Kumar, IGP, Chandigarh, in the presence of Geetanjali Khandelwal, SP, Cyber Cell, A Venkatesh, DANIPS, DSP, Cyber Cell; along with representatives from Infosys, Punjab Engineering College and HDFC Bank.

In his address, Kumar underscored the increasing relevance of cyber defence platforms like Cyberthons, which focus exclusively on solving real-world cybersecurity challenges.

This year, from an initial pool of 81 entries, 11 standout teams were shortlisted by a panel of expert mentors from Infosys and PEC. These teams will participate in a rigorous two-day coding challenge on June 13 and 14, developing real-time solutions that could eventually be integrated into digital policing frameworks.

Geetanjali highlighted the importance of nurturing young talent in cybersecurity and noted the enthusiastic involvement of students and start-ups.
