IVP expels councillor over anti-party activities

The Indraprastha Vikas Party (IVP) on Friday expelled Ashok Pandey, municipal councillor from Ward 109 (Vikas Nagar), for six years on charges of anti-party activities. The party also cancelled his primary membership with immediate effect.

The action was announced following a meeting of IVP corporators and senior leaders held at the party office. IVP leader Hemchand Goyal said the decision was taken unanimously after it was confirmed that Pandey had been acting against the interests and policies of the party in recent days.

In a statement issued by the party, Goyal emphasised that the IVP is committed to reviving and accelerating development work across various wards. “Our councillors are working to restart the stalled development work. In such a situation, any activity that hinders these efforts cannot and will not be tolerated,” he said.

Goyal also underlined the party’s inclusive development approach, stating that the IVP is open to supporting any initiative — regardless of the proposing party — if it benefits the people and development of Delhi.
