MC to issue two tenders for waste collection in Yamunanagar, Jagadhri

There will be no hindrance in door-to-door garbage collection in the area falling under the Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), as the authorities concerned have decided to issue two tenders before the existing tender of waste collection comes to an end in July this year.

The first tender will be for two months, while the second will be for one year. This decision was taken at the House meeting of the MCYJ held in Yamunanagar on Friday under the chairmanship of Mayor Suman Bahamani. Fifty-two proposals were passed at the meeting held in the presence of Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora.

As per proposals passed at the meeting, monitoring committees will be formed to monitor undergoing development works in the twin cities. Prior information of the transfer of any officer or employee of the MCYJ will be given to the Mayor and councillors. One of the chowks of the twin cities will be named after Guru Gorakhnath.

Mayor Suman Bahamani chairs MC House meeting; and (below) a councillor raises problems of his ward at the meeting in Yamunanagar.

The parks built in the MCYJ area, which do not have names, will be named as per suggestions given by the Mayor and councillors. There will be better lighting arrangements at all public places including parks.

Property certificates will soon be issued to give ownership rights to owners of properties situated in the Lal Dora area of the MCYJ. Stray dogs will be sterilised. The tendering process for this work has been completed. Tenders worth around Rs 1.25 crore will be issued for the sterilisation work.

A ward committee will be formed to make new property certificates and chairman of the said committee will be the councillor of the respective ward. Action will be taken against those who have illegally occupied and encroached upon the MCYJ land.

However, the proposal to develop a park near Ravi Hospital was kept pending for the next meeting. Besides these proposals, a number of other proposals were also passed at the House meeting.

Before the meeting started, all officers and councillors observed two minutes silence for the peace of the souls of 268 people who died in the plane crash in Ahmedabad.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Kuldeep Malik read out proposals. At the meeting, councillors raised problems of their respective wards. MCYJ Commissioner Akhil Pilani and Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar answered questions of councillors and assured them to solve their problems.
