J&K’s Vimal Jit wins Historic Gold at SABPF

JAMMU, June 13: In a remarkable achievement, Vimal Jit from Jammu and Kashmir clinched a historic gold medal for India at the 15th Men’s South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship (SABPF) held in Thimphu, Bhutan. Competing in the 55 kg category.
Vimal became the first athlete from J&K to win a gold medal at an international bodybuilding event, marking a proud milestone for the Union Territory.
The championship featured participation from eight South Asian countries, making Vimal’s victory even more significant. He is now set to compete for the overall championship title tomorrow at the same venue.
Rajesh Dutta, Secretary of the Body Building Association of Jammu & Kashmir, lauded Vimal’s performance and described it as a “historic moment” for J&K sports. He emphasized the importance of this win in inspiring young athletes from the region to pursue bodybuilding at the international level.
