Iran Launches Massive Missile Barrage on Israel in Retaliation for Deadly Strikes
Operation True Promise 3 Targets Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa
Tehran, June 14, 2025 – Iran unleashed a barrage of missiles on Israel late Friday evening, targeting major cities including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa, in response to Israeli military strikes on Iranian soil that killed 78 people, including senior military officials, and injured 320 others. The retaliatory operation, dubbed “True Promise 3” by Iranian officials, has caused widespread destruction in occupied territories, with media reports indicating significant damage to infrastructure and civilian injuries.
The Israeli aggression, which began overnight on Friday, targeted residential and military zones in and around Tehran, as well as other Iranian cities. Among the casualties were Major General Mohammad Baqeri, Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, and Major General Hossein Salami, Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC). Iran’s Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, swiftly appointed new military brass to replace the assassinated officials.
Iran’s missile strikes, launched from Tehran and Kermanshah, have been described by sources as “very intense and huge.” Media reports confirmed powerful explosions across northern and central occupied Palestine, with sirens blaring nationwide as residents were urged to flee to shelters. According to sources, a missile struck a strategic center south of Tel Aviv, while another hit Israel’s Ministry of War. In Ramat Gan, nine buildings were completely destroyed, and hundreds more were damaged, media reports stated. A 50-story building was also struck, and power outages were reported in several areas.
According to media reports, at least 63 settlers were injured, and over 300 residents were evacuated from damaged homes in Tel Aviv. In central occupied Palestine, settlers remain trapped in buildings hit by Iranian missiles, while vivid footage captured by Israelis shows massive fireballs erupting upon missile impacts.
Iran’s Envoy to the United Nations, Sa’eed Iravani, addressed an emergency UN Security Council meeting, condemning Israel’s escalation and detailing the heavy toll of its strikes on Iran. General Ahmad Vahidi, a senior Iranian military official, vowed that “Operation True Promise 3” would continue as long as necessary. Meanwhile, air defense systems in Tehran engaged Israeli drones and quadcopters overnight, thwarting further incursions.
Israeli Minister for Military Affairs Israel Katz declared a state of emergency in anticipation of Iran’s response, which has now entered a second wave of strikes. The unprecedented escalation has heightened fears of a broader regional conflict, with both sides showing no signs of de-escalation.
