On 15 August 2017, coinciding with the 70th Indian Independence Day, the Indian Directorate of Film Festivals and Ministry of Defence together organized the Independence Day Film Festival, where the film was shown retrospectively in honor of its enduring classic status and the milestone of 20 years.
The makers are now delivering a sequel titled Border 2, featuring Sunny Deol in the main role once more, directed by Kesari fame director Anurag Singh. Reports indicate that this film will be launched next year in 2026.
