Abandoned vehicles at bus stand irk drivers, passengers in Tarn Taran

The vehicles lying ‘abandoned’ at the open space at the entry gate of the bus stand, Tarn Taran, have been causing inconvenience to bus drivers and passengers.

Passengers and drivers have complained that the vehicles ‘abandoned’ by the police in the complex of the bus stand have been causing obstacles to all, but no one has the courage to raise voice against the police and get the space freed. Earlier, there was a police post at the spot, which has now been shifted. Over two hundred ‘impounded’ vehicles have not only encroached upon public space, but have also become a breeding-ground for mosquitoes. Besides, reptiles like snakes have also been seen here by some passengers.

With the closing of certain police posts from certain points in the district, the police post at the bus stand too has been closed around four months ago, but a large number of vehicles, related to the Mall Mukadma, have not been shifted from here.

Jaswinder Singh Chahal, General Manager, said that he and the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) have decided to meet the SSP soon in this regard.

Kanwaljit Singh, DSP (Headquarters), when contacted confirmed that the police post from the bus stand has been closed around four months ago. He denied to say anything of the lifting of the vehicles lying abandoned at the bus stand complex.
