Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025: The annual Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri is one of the most anticipated and sacred festivals in India. Devotees from all over the country and the world eagerly await the opportunity to participate in this grand chariot procession. As per the Skanda Purana, it is believed that those who chant Lord Jagannath’s name while walking to the Gundicha temple during the Rath Yatra attain liberation from the cycle of rebirth.
In 2025, the Jagannath Rath Yatra will begin on the full moon day (Purnima) of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashadha and will conclude on the next Purnima. Here is the complete schedule of the Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025:

June 10, 2025 – Jyestha Purnima (Snana Purnima)
On this day, Lord Jagannath receives a ceremonial bath known as Sahastra Snana. Following this ritual, as per tradition, the Lord becomes unwell and rests for 15 days.
June 16, 2025 – Anasara Panchami
On this day, special Ayurvedic oils, known as Phuluri oil, are massaged into the Lord’s limbs to aid in recovery. It is believed these oils help relieve the fever and gradually restore the deity’s health.
June 20, 2025 – Anasara Dashami
Lord Jagannath returns to his Ratna Simhasan (bejewelled throne) as part of the recovery process.
June 21, 2025 – Khali Lagi
On this day, the deities are treated with special medicinal herbs, continuing the recovery phase.
June 25, 2025 – Vigraha Decoration
The idols of Lord Balabhadra, Subhadra, and Lord Jagannath are beautifully adorned for the public.
June 26, 2025 – Nava Yauvana Darshan
On this day, devotees are allowed to glimpse the deities in their youthful form. Formal permission is sought from Lord Jagannath for commencing the Rath Yatra.
June 27, 2025 – Grand Rath Yatra Begins
The grand procession starts towards the Gundicha Temple. One of the most iconic rituals, Chera Pahara, takes place on this day. The King of Odisha, Gajapati Maharaja, sweeps around the chariots with a golden broom, symbolizing humility and devotion. Devotees then begin pulling the chariots amid chants and celebrations.
July 1, 2025 – Hera Panchami
This ritual marks Goddess Lakshmi’s symbolic visit to the Gundicha Temple, expressing her displeasure over Lord Jagannath's long absence.
July 4, 2025 – Bahuda Yatra (Return Journey)
The deities return to their original abode, the Jagannath Temple, in another grand procession.
July 5, 2025 – Suna Besha and Niladri Vijay
On this day, the deities are decorated in lavish gold ornaments (Suna Besha), followed by Niladri Vijay, marking their return to the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
