Power demand drops to 417 MW in Chandigarh

With a slight drop in minimum temperature, the power consumption has considerably come down in the city.

According to officials of the Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL), the electricity demand today remained low in the city in comparison to the past two days, when the load consumption broke all previous records. The officials said the maximum peak demand in the city was recorded at 417 MW. The peak demand yesterday was 454 MW and 465 MW, the highest ever, the day before yesterday.

Residents also heaved a sigh of relief as the incidence of unscheduled power cuts also came down with a decrease in power demand in the city.

Amid the ongoing heatwave, the electricity demand in the city was unusually very high for the past a few days. Keeping in view the high demand during summer season, the CPDL has decided to install four more transformers with a capacity of 20 MW each for uninterrupted electricity supply to the residents.
