Amritsar admn gears up to tackle dengue outbreak

Additional Deputy Commissioner Jyoti Bala Mattu during a meeting of the district task force emphasised the importance of taking precautions against dengue outbreak.

Officials from several departments, including health, municipal corporation, local bodies, roadways, education, water supply and sanitation, fisheries, food supply, rural development and panchayats, animal husbandry, mandi board and agriculture, took part in the meeting.

Civil Surgeon Dr Kirandeep Kaur highlighted the importance of preventing water accumulation to tackle mosquito breeding.

“The most crucial step in preventing dengue is to ensure that water does not accumulate at any place, thereby preventing mosquito breeding,” she said.

District Epidemiologist Dr Harjot Kaur explained the roles and responsibilities of departments in detail, emphasising the need for interdepartmental coordination to combat dengue.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner appealed to all departments to start awareness activities and cooperate with the Health Department to prevent the spread of dengue. The meeting aimed to ensure adherence to government guidelines and maximise awareness about its prevention.

The Health Department has also issued a list of do’s and don’ts for the residents to help prevent and manage dengue cases.
