Big Breaking: 5 dead as helicopter carrying pilgrims crashes in Kedarnath

Kedarnath Helicopter Crash: In a tragic incident, a helicopter crashed in Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath Dham on Sunday morning. The accident took place when the chopper was going from Dehradun to Kedarnath and went missing in Gaurikund. “A helicopter going from Dehradun to Kedarnath has gone missing in Gaurikund. The helicopter went missing between Trijuginarayan and Gaurikund,” news agency ANI quoted Uttarakhand ADG Law and Order, Dr V. Murugeshan, as saying.

As per initial reports, five people on board are reported to have died in the accident.

There were six passengers, including the pilot (5 adults and 1 child) were onboard. NDRF and SDRF teams have been dispatched to the accident site, informed Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA).

The helicopter crash has again raised safety concerns regarding air travel to high-altitude pilgrimage sites, especially during the peak Char Dham Yatra.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.
