'The Brutalist' OTT release: When and where to watch the Oscar-winning Adrien Brody-starrer

Four months after its theatrical release in India on February 28, The Brutalist, starring Adrien Brody, will finally stream on JioHotstar on June 28. During its big-screen run, the nearly 220-min-long film garnered worldwide acclaim and attained hit status with a worldwide gross of $50.2 million against its $9.6 million budget, rare for a character drama with long, contemplative moments of reflection.
Directed by Brady Corbet, the film was named one of the top ten films of 2024 by the American Film Institute and received near unanimous positive reviews. At the 97th Academy Awards, the film was nominated in ten categories, eventually winning three — Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Actor (for Adrien Brody). At the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, it won three awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama. Interestingly, Brody won his first acting Oscar 22 years ago for The Pianist, also based on a real-life figure.
The Brutalist centers on a brilliant architect László Toth (Adrien Brody) who, after fleeing post-war Europe, reaches America where he attempts to build a new life and resume his career whilst trying to reconnect with his wife (Felicity Jones) who was separated from him during the war and immigration. In the US, he is contacted by an affluent and shrewd businessman for an assignment, but it's a meeting that changes Toth's life for the good and also for the bad.
It must be noted that The Brutalist was shot on the VistaVision, a format that was used largely in the late 1950s and early '60s for cinematic stories with stunning locations, to give viewers a complete, immersive sense of the geography in which the story is set, filling up nearly the entire screen.
