15-Year-Old Girl Dies After Falling Into Open Sewer Chamber In MP's Shivpuri; Body Recovered After 4-Hour Rescue Operation
Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh): A 15-year-old girl died after falling into a sewer chamber in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri on Saturday.
The tragic incident happened while she was walking near her home. The chamber’s cover was old and weak. It suddenly broke when she stepped on it, and she fell inside.
The girl named Utsavi died on Saturday night after falling into a sewer chamber in Santushti Apartment, located in the Kotwali police station area of the city.
According to information, her younger brother was right behind her, but a nearby person managed to save him in time.
As soon as the incident was reported, the police, municipal team, and rescue workers reached the spot.
Local residents blamed the apartment management for negligence.

The SDRF (State Disaster Emergency Response Force) started a rescue operation that lasted for almost four hours. Around 12:40 AM, Utsavi’s body was pulled out from the tank.
Police have filed a case against the property owner, Arjun Diwan, for negligence.
An 8-year-old girl named Bhavya, who was playing with Utsavi, said she was right next to her when the cover broke. Bhavya tried to pull Utsavi out by holding her hand, but due to the dirty water and mud inside the sewer, Utsavi sank quickly.
Bhavya ran and called the family for help. Soon, a large crowd gathered at the spot.
The municipal team, SDRF, and sewer workers used two machines and called for help from two other nearby councils. The chamber was around 15 feet deep and filled with dirty water, thick mud, and waste. After removing the waste, Utsavi’s body was found.
Her mother sat nearby in shock, hoping her daughter would be alive. But when the body was recovered at 12:40 AM, all hope was lost.
Kotwali police station in-charge Kripal Singh Rathore said this was clearly a case of negligence.
A full investigation has been started.
