Mumbai News: Bharat Diamond Bourse Seeks ₹10 Crore Fee Waiver For Metro 2B Station Connector

Mumbai: The Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB), an association of diamond traders, has requested the MMRDA to grant a waiver in the onetime development charges, pegged at Rs 10 crore, for a proposed metro connector to the upcoming Metro 2B station at the BKC.

A foot over bridge is planned to the non-ticketing area of the nearby Metro 2B station from the BDB. BDB President Anoop Mehta told the FPJ that the connector will provide direct access to the Bourse reducing road congestion and facilitating smoother traffic flow.

“The connector will be especially useful for authorised pass holders visiting BDB,” Mehta added. Metro Line 2B, an elevated corridor spanning 23.6 km from DN Nagar to Mandale, will pass near the BDB premises.

The diamond traders are willing to contribute financially. However, they have requested the MMRDA to grant a waiver in development charges. The BDB sees a daily footfall of around 50,000.
