APPG expresses grief over loss of lives in plane crash

THE All -Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for India in the UK Parliament has expressed deepest condolences to those affected by the tragic accident involving Air India Flight AI171 which crashed shortly after takeoff on June 12 in Ahmedabad. The AI flight was bound for London Gatwick.
“We are profoundly saddened by the loss of life and the impact this has on families in both India and the UK. Our thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones, as well as those still awaiting news in the wake of this devastating event, APPG Co-Chairs Lord Karan Bilimoria and Jeevun Sandher MP and President, Baroness Verma said in a statement.
“We recognise and appreciate the swift response of emergency services in Ahmedabad, the Government of India, and Air India in managing the immediate aftermath and supporting affected families.
“We wish to inform the public that the High Commission of India in London has activated emergency visa support for next of kin or immediate family members of passengers who were on board Flight AI171,” the APPG said.
The number 07768765035 is only for emergency visa-related queries to facilitate travel to India in connection with this tragedy, it added.
