Tech Glitch Grounds Air India Express Plane At Hindon Airport, Flight To Kolkata Stuck On Runway For An Hour
An Air India Express plane scheduled to fly from Uttar Pradesh’s Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad to Kolkata faced an unexpected delay today following a last-minute technical fault discovered just before take-off.
Flight IX 1511, which was set to depart from the recently opened civilian wing of Hindon Airport—primarily used for defence operations—was grounded on the runway for over an hour, airport sources told NDTV. The delay occurred after the flight crew detected a technical issue while the aircraft was taxiing for departure.
The exact nature of the snag was not immediately revealed. However, the situation prompted a halt in operations as ground engineers were summoned to inspect and rectify the issue. This led to an extended delay for passengers already onboard or awaiting take-off.
According to airport officials, safety protocols required immediate assessment by the technical team, and passengers were kept informed during the process, NDTV reported.
Air India Express Offers Free Rescheduling And Full Refund To Passengers
Confirming the delay, an Air India Express spokesperson said, “Our Kolkata - Hindon flight operated, with a delay, due to a snag on the originally assigned aircraft. Guests were offered complimentary rescheduling or cancellation with a full refund. We regret the inconvenience”, news agency ANI reported.
The flight eventually departed after the issue was addressed and the aircraft cleared for travel.
