Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Visits Industrial Units In Bihta

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inspected various industrial units located in the Sikandarpur Industrial Area of Bihta. During the visit, the Chief Minister first examined the production centre of RK Shirts Unit, observing the manufacturing processes of different types of shirts being prepared there. He interacted with the women workers to understand the operational arrangements. The women engaged in production explained the various stages of shirt manufacturing, including cutting and stitching, to the Chief Minister.

Subsequently, he visited the bag manufacturing unit operated by DV Ranjan Bag Cluster, where workers demonstrated the entire production process and showcased the finished bags.

Expressing satisfaction during the inspection, the Chief Minister remarked, "It is heartening to see numerous industrial units manufacturing products in this industrial area. The Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana has been launched to provide employment opportunities to the youth of the state and promote entrepreneurship. People from all backgrounds are now venturing into business and starting their own enterprises. The state offers a conducive environment for industry, and the government is providing all necessary facilities to entrepreneurs."

He further added, "We are encouraging investors to establish industrial units in the state. The establishment of such units will generate employment opportunities for local residents, providing them economic support and fostering regional development."

Currently, RK Shirts Unit employs over 180 local youths, who are engaged in skilled tasks such as machine operation, designing, stitching, and packaging. The unit is expected to create employment for approximately 1,200 workers in the future. Meanwhile, DV Ranjan Bag Cluster specialises in handmade, canvas, and corporate gifting bags. This unit serves as an exemplary women-led enterprise, with over 80% of its workforce being women trained through self-help groups and local NGOs. The cluster produces more than 500 bags daily, supplied to various markets across India.

Additionally, a state-of-the-art Integrated Irradiation Centre, constructed at a cost of ₹58.15 crore, has been established to enhance the shelf life, safety, and export readiness of agricultural produce such as fruits, vegetables, spices, herbal products, meat, and fish. Equipped with a Cobalt-60 radiation source of 3,000 KCi capacity, the facility includes a 4,000 metric tonne cold storage, a 4,000 metric tonne dry warehouse, and an export pack house with a processing capacity of 2 metric tonnes per hour. This technology ensures compliance with global phytosanitary standards, enabling Bihar's products to meet export requirements without chemical treatment.

The centre has already facilitated successful exports of litchi and Jardalu mangoes to international markets like the UAE and Qatar. Under the 'Gift from Bihar' initiative, over 2,000 premium Jardalu mango boxes have been sent as gifts to national and international dignitaries. The centre has also provided training and employment to more than 100 local youths, who are now directly contributing to the agricultural export supply chain. Collectively, these three units employ over 350 individuals, predominantly from local communities.
