Vande Bharat train will soon start operating on Muzaffarpur-Champaran route which will provide convenience to passengers. There are also preparations to run Vande Bharat on Raxaul-Kolkata route. Rs 50 crore will be spent to give a new look to Raxaul station. Many development works are being done to improve the infrastructure of the railway station which will further strengthen the relations between India and Nepal.
New Vande Bharat: After Patna, the operation of Vande Bharat on Muzaffarpur-Champaran route has got the green signal in East Central Railway. After this, preparations are underway to run it on Raxaul-Kolkata route as well. This will make it easier for the people of Bengal to visit Baba Pashupatinath and Mata Sita. For this, Raxaul station is being given a new look. Rs 50 crore will be spent on this.
Tender for washing pit has been done in Raxaul and Saharsa to run Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains. On Friday, a tender of 27 lakhs has been issued for its maintenance. Earlier, in the general budget 2025-26, crores of rupees were allocated in different heads for the development of Raxaul railway station.
Rs 60 to 70 crores have been allocated in all heads for the development of infrastructure of Raxaul Junction. This mainly includes upgrading the building of Raxaul railway station and other works. In the first phase, Rs 19 crore 92 lakh was given. After that, maintenance depots for Vande Bharat trains will be built.
These depots will have facilities like modern equipment, electricity, water and line connectivity. Work is going on at a fast pace. DRM Samastipur Vinay Srivastava is constantly monitoring to run Vande Bharat train from Raxaul.
With the running of Vande Bharat train on Raxaul-Kolkata route, it will become easier for the people of Bengal to visit Baba Pashupatinath and Mata Sita. Devotees of Raxaul-Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur route will be able to travel to Bengal. Not only this, this will strengthen the relationship between India and Nepal.

Proposal was sent to operate to Kolkata via Muzaffarpur:
This proposal was sent by Samastipur division to Railway Board and Railway Ministry through East Central Railway Headquarters. After getting the green signal, the work has been started rapidly. In the first phase, the overhead contact and connect wire (OHE) of electricity is being repaired. Along with this, work is also going on to build a state-of-the-art washing pit in Saharsa.
A tender of Rs 65 lakh has been given to replace the overhead wire (OHE) of electricity in Raxaul railway area. Six months have been given to complete the work. The tender was done on June 16. Amrit Bhast train was first operated in Samastipur Railway Division.
On January 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the train from Ayodhyaji to Darbhanga on the occasion of Pran Pratishtha of Lord Ram. A large number of people from Lord Ram’s in-laws’ house had come from Janakpur Dham with refreshments etc. and returned by the same train. Apart from the saints and sages, a large number of women associated with Madhubani painting had also come, the Prime Minister had also met them.
