Smart step: Trans-Giri school brings modern uniform, boosts student pride

A heartening initiative has taken root in the remote Trans-Giri region of Sirmaur district, where Government Model Primary School Tatiyana of Shillai Assembly constituency has introduced smart school uniforms for its students. The decision, guided by the Education Department’s directives, was made with full consent and participation of parents, reflecting a strong spirit of collaboration.

During a meeting held in the presence of guardians, it was decided that students will now attend school in two types of uniforms. Boys will wear a pant-shirt on some days and a pant-T-shirt on others, while girls have the option of both skirt-shirt and pant-T-shirt combinations. The initiative aims not only to modernise the students’ appearance but also to boost their self-confidence and interest in learning.

Children’s excitement was visible as they arrived in their new uniforms — their glowing faces said it all. The fresh attire brought a sense of pride, making school feel more engaging and joyful.

Adding to the celebration, the school staff distributed free school bags to every student from classes 1 to 5. This thoughtful gesture was funded and organised entirely by the teachers, earning sincere gratitude from the parents.

Parents expressed that such efforts help ignite a genuine interest in education among children and strengthen their sense of self-worth. Many praised the initiative as an inspiring step toward improving rural education and creating a more student-friendly environment.Teachers assured the community that consistent efforts will be made for the all-round development of the students. They also acknowledged the unwavering support of the School Management Committee (SMC), which continues to play a crucial role in these progressive actions.

This meaningful collaboration between school staff, parents and the local community clearly demonstrates that impactful change in education is possible — even in the most remote regions — when everyone comes together with a shared vision.
