Bhagwant Mann Punjab’s dummy CM, Delhi AAP leaders running show: Rekha Gupta

BJP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday called her Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann a “dummy CM”, alleging that his government was being run by Delhi AAP leaders who have shifted their base to the state to “loot people’s hard-earned” money.

“The Chief Minister is seen only in the advertisements. The entire administration in Punjab is being run by the rejected AAP leaders of Delhi,” she alleged.

Gupta also lashed out at former Delhi CM and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, saying after facing defeat in the Delhi Assembly poll earlier this year, he shifted tainted party leaders —many of whom are out on bail — to Punjab, Where they enjoyed influence under the party rule.

She levelled the allegations speaking to mediapersons while campaigning for BJP candidate Jiwan Gupta for the Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll.

She said AAP fielded its Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora in the election as Kejriwal “was now trying to enter” Upper House of Parliament after facing defeat in Delhi.

“This clearly shows he is power hungry and can’t stay without power,” Gupta alleged. The Delhi CM said the state’s debt has increased to Rs 4 lakh crore under AAP’s “flawed policies”.

Targeting women voters, she said AAP had promised a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000 for each woman aged 18 and above but the promise remained unfulfilled.

“They have cheated women as not even a single penny has been given to them in Punjab till date,” she said.

Gupta also targeted Kejriwal for “silence” on national security issues.

“While every Indian appreciated the Army for the Operation Sindoor, Kejriwal failed to say a single word in their support and his party leaders even made insulting comments about the military,” she claimed.

On the drug menace, Gupta mocked AAP’s “war against drugs”, saying they had promised to eliminate it but heroin was “easily available outside schools and in every village and city of Punjab”.

“Punjab has been converted into a ‘Chitta Express’,” she alleged.

Gupta also accused Kejriwal of displaying “false Punjabiyat”.

“When you were in power in Delhi for a decade, not even one minister in Kejriwal’s Cabinet was from the Sikh community. Did you not find them able? While in power in Delhi, you never did anything for the Sikhs,” she said.

Gupta said the process of delivering justice to the 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims truly began after Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power.

She also said that her government recently handed over job appointment letters to the families of 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims. Earlier in the day, Gupta was welcomed by BJP workers in Fatehgarh Sahib’s Sirhind.

BJP trying to divide people: Aman Arora

Reacting on the comments, state AAP president Aman Arora accused the BJP of indulging in politics of religion. He alleged that now the party was trying to divide state’s communities. He urged people to elect their MLA on the basis of good qualities.
