New Rule At Pune Airport: ₹500 Penalty For 4-Wheelers Halted Beyond 15 Minutes

The Pune Airport administration has announced a new rule for four-wheelers halting for more than 15 minutes in front of the terminal building: a penalty of ₹500.

This move is aimed at easing traffic congestion, streamlining vehicular movement and providing relief to passengers and traffic authorities alike.

Santosh Dhoke, Pune Airport Director, said a proposal to enforce this rule was sent to the Delhi headquarters. After their approval, the implementation process has now begun, he added.

Dhoke said that a dedicated team will be deployed to monitor the vehicle movement and issue fines to violators.

“Traffic congestion in front of the Pune airport terminal has become a serious concern. Many travellers and vehicle drivers keep their cars parked for hours, creating major obstructions for others. To control this situation, we’ve decided to impose a ₹500 fine on vehicles that stop for more than 15 minutes," Dhoke told HT.

"The measure is aimed at reducing unnecessary crowding and ensuring smoother traffic flow. It’s a decision taken in the interest of passenger convenience,” he added.
