Swara Bhasker Trolled For Urging Mumbaikars To Attend Pro-Palestine Rally At Azad Maidan, Netizens Question 'Pahalgam Ke Liye Kyun Nahi Kiya?'

Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker found herself at the center of a social media storm after sharing a poster promoting a solidarity rally for Gaza and Palestine, scheduled to be held at Mumbai's Azad Maidan on Wednesday (June 18).

The poster, which has been shared online, urges people to gather at Azad Maidan in a show of solidarity with Gaza and Palestine. The event, scheduled for 3:30 pm, is being organised by several left-leaning political parties and social organisations, including CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML) Liberation, the Samajwadi Party, AIFB, RPI (Secular), and others.

It urges people to "Condemn Israeli genocide of Gaza" and demands a change in India's official stance on the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.

Sharing the poster on her official X (formerly known as Twitter) account, Swara Bhasker wrote, "Mumbai.. Show up for Palestine on 18 June! ❤️✨#stopthegenocideinpalestine."

Swara's post was met with mixed reactions online, with some lauding her for taking a stand, while others accused her of being one-sided and politicising a complex international issue. Critics also questioned her silence on other global conflicts.

Netizens react to Swara's post

"Pahalgam, Bangladeshi Hindus, Christians in Syria, Christians in Sudan/Somalia, Hindus/Christian/Ahmadias in Pakistan... In sab ko chhodkar inhe sirf Palistinians ki chinta hai. Agar tumhara pyar sirf musalmano se hai to Baloch Muslims ke liye hi protest kar do? But wo bhi kaise karogi, politically narrative apke favourite Pakistan k against chala jayega na," a user commented under her post.

"Pahalgam ke liye toh ye sb nahi kiya ??" asked another user.

"Mumbai show up for Pahalgam victims toh kabhi nahi bola isne," wrote another user.

One of the comments read, "Go to Palestine and fight for them. No point in doing PR events in Mumbai."

"It’s a war between Israel and Palestine. Why are you itching to protest for them? Why don’t you go there in person and support them there?" asked another user.

"Have you ever seen these people organising such events when innocent Indians are killed in terrorist attacks by Pakistan? "another comment read.

A section of users also tagged the official X account of Mumbai Police and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and asked them to take action against the actress.

This isn't the first time Swara has spoken out on global humanitarian crises. She has previously voiced support for refugees, minority rights, and progressive causes, often drawing both praise and ire.

Despite the trolling, Swara has not issued any clarification or reacted as of now.
