Mumbai Tragedy: Young Motorcyclist Killed After JCB Driving On Wrong Side Rams Bike On Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road; Driver Absconding

Mumbai: A tragic accident claimed the life of a young motorcyclist after a JCB, allegedly driving in the wrong direction, collided head-on with the two-wheeler on the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road. The incident occurred at around 2:45 AM on June 15 near Mohite Patil Nagar, in front of the New SRA building and the driver of the JCB fled the scene without offering any help to the injured.

Mankhurd Police have registered a case against the unidentified JCB driver in for causing death due to negligence.

According to the police, the deceased, identified as Ravikant Singh Lodhi, was riding a motorcycle (MH-48 CH-7764) with his close friend Abhay Ramdas Gupta alias Lucky, a 19-year-old, both were residents of the Indira Nagar, Mankhurd.

Ravikant had visited Lucky’s home and informed him that he had some work at Bainganwadi in Shivajinagar. He then took Lucky along on his bike. As they reached the Mohite Patil Nagar stretch on the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link road, a JCB (MH-01 EV-5412) coming from the opposite direction crashed into their bike.

The impact threw Abhay to one side, while Ravikant landed on the other. Ravikant suffered severe facial injuries and began bleeding profusely. He soon lost consciousness. Shockingly, the JCB driver did not stop to help and immediately fled the scene.

Left alone, Lucky quickly called his friend Mukesh Kashyap for help and rushed Ravikant to Rajawadi Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

After receiving information about the incident, the Mankhurd Police registered a case of accidental death. Lucky's statement was recorded, based on which the Mankhurd Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.

Police have traced the JCB's registration number and are currently searching to locate and arrest the accused JCB driver.
