Navi Mumbai News: Over 1,000 Citizens Use NMMC’s New Mini Olympic-Sized Swimming Pool In Ghansoli Within First Month
Navi Mumbai: The recently opened mini Olympic-sized swimming pool at Central Park, Sector 3, Ghansoli, has witnessed an exceptional public response, with over 1,000 citizens utilizing the facility in its very first month. Operated by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), the pool was made available to the public from May 15, 2025, and has quickly become a popular destination for swimming enthusiasts across the city.
According to civic officials, a total of 1,052 people have availed themselves of the facility so far. This includes 565 beginners who enrolled for structured swimming lessons and 487 experienced swimmers who signed up for regular use of the pool. The response has far exceeded expectations, reflecting the growing interest in health and fitness activities among Navi Mumbai residents.
Training batches for beginners have been running successfully, with two batches completed to date. The first batch saw 230 learners, of which 209 mastered swimming, while the second batch enrolled 335 trainees, with 313 of them learning the skill proficiently.
Due to the overwhelming demand, many citizens are currently on the waiting list, eager to secure a slot in upcoming batches. The pool operates with nine one-hour batches daily and includes a dedicated time slot for women in the evenings.
In just a month, the civic body has collected ₹6.22 lakh in fees from entry and training, underlining the facility's popularity. NMMC’s initiative to provide an affordable, well-managed swimming pool has been widely appreciated by residents from areas as far as Dighe to Nerul.
Officials stated that the excellent response can be attributed to the pool’s modern infrastructure, professional trainers, and the affordable fee structure, making the facility accessible to a wider section of society.
