Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Postman Kills Wife With Koyta After Domestic Dispute, Goes Absconding
A man killed his wife by stabbing her several times with a sharp koyta (machete) following a minor quarrel between them. The incident occurred in Rahegaon in Vaijapur taluka on Saturday night. The accused husband has been identified as Changdev Ramrao Shelar (55), and the victim as his wife, Anita Changdev Shelar (50).
Chagdev Shelar works as a postman, and Anita was an Anganwadi Sevika. On Saturday, Chagdev returned to their home in Rahegaon from Pandharpur. The couple had their dinner at night and were about to go to sleep when a quarrel erupted between them. The quarrel went to an extreme stage, and Changdev allegedly attacked Anita with a koyta. He slit her throat and stabbed her several times. Anita fell into the pool of blood while Changdev sat near her body for the whole night. On Sunday morning, the neighbours noticed the murder and informed the police.
When the police arrived on the spot, Changdev fled from the scene. The police team inspected and conducted the panchnama. Anita’s body was sent to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for autopsy.
Changdev Shelar is a postman, and he knows everyone in the village and the surrounding area. He and his wife Anita were affectionate and used to treat everyone compassionately, the neighbours said.
