Fatehabad police crack down on drug traffickers, 51 arrested

The Fatehabad police have launched a major crackdown on drug trafficking by launching a campaign across the district from June 1 to June 15. During the fortnight, the police registered 26 cases and arrested 51 individuals involved in drug smuggling. Among these, three cases were related to commercial-level drug dealing. The operation led to the seizure of narcotic substances worth lakhs of rupees, marking a significant step in the district’s fight against illegal drugs.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Siddhant Jain issued instructions to all police stations, the CIA unit and special teams to take strict action against those involved in illegal trade. Responding to these directives, teams conducted raids across various locations and successfully apprehended individuals engaged in the supply and trafficking of drugs. The campaign resulted in the recovery of 203.605 grams of heroin, 1053.168 kilograms of poppy husk, 2.898 kilograms of cannabis, 1,200 drug pills and 140 banned injections. All these items carry a combined estimated value running into lakhs of rupees in the black market.

Alongside the arrest of drug traffickers, the police also apprehended six proclaimed offenders and 15 bail jumpers who had been evading the law. These arrests strengthened the campaign’s success, showing that the police were targeting all elements connected to illegal drug trade.

In a major breakthrough on Monday, the Ratia police caught a youth with 30.16 grams of heroin on Gaushala Road. The accused was identified as Praveen Sharma, a resident of Vidyut Nagar, Hisar, who was currently living in Anaj Mandi, Ratia. The police also seized scooter used for delivering drug.

Another youth identified as Ajay, alias Aji, a resident of Gurunanakpura, Fatehabad, was arrested by the police after recovering 10.034 grams of heroin from him. — OC
