Congress revamp campaign reaches block level
After holding meetings at the district headquarters to gather feedback from party workers, Congress observers from the Centre and the state have now shifted focus to the block level as part of the party’s ongoing organisational revamp.
Continuing under the party’s — “Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan” (Organisational Restructuring Campaign) — a key meeting was held on Monday at Matanhel village, which falls under the Jhajjar Assembly segment.
The meeting was attended by party observers including former MP Jagdish Thakur, former MLA Rao Dan Singh, Vardhan Yadav, Jaibhagwan Antil and Jhajjar MLA Geeta Bhukkal.
Speaking on the occasion, Jagdish Thakur said the party would soon finalise its new district-level organisation. “Observers are now visiting each block in every district and collecting application forms from party workers interested in taking up organisational roles. These forms will be carefully reviewed and discussed, and a final report will be submitted by June 30,” he said.
In reply to a question, Thakur said, “Congress is the largest party in the country, which is why people continue to vote for it. Wherever the structure is weak, thorough analysis is done, and the strengthening process is now underway.”
Meanwhile, Jhajjar MLA and former Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal gave the BJP government a “double zero” rating for its performance at the Centre over the past 11 years.
“The BJP government in Haryana perfectly fits the old saying — playing your own drum and singing your own tune,” she remarked.
Bhukkal said the party high command had carefully deliberated on the restructuring plan before launching it. This was followed by Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Chandigarh, during which he provided clear guidance to senior party leaders, Bhukkal said.
