'Rest Easy Fufaji': Priyanka Chopra Jonas Mourns Cousin Mannara Chopra's Father's Death
Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas mourned the demise of her uncle, Raman Rai Handa, on Tuesday, after he passed away in Mumbai on Monday (June 16) evening. Handa was the father of actress and Bigg Boss 17 fame, Mannara Chopra.
On Tuesday, PeeCee took to her Instagram handle to pen an emotional note for Handa. "You'll always be in our hearts. Rest easy Raman uncle (fufaji). Om Shanti (sic)." She also tagged Mannara, her sister Mitali and their mother Kamini Chopra Handa in the post.
Handa was married to Kamini Chopra, the sister of Priyanka's father, Ashok Chopra.
On Monday, Mannara's family shared a statement on social media, confirming Handa's death. "With profound grief and sorrow we inform the sad demise of our loving father who left us for his heavenly abode on 16/06/2025. He was the pillar of strength for our family (sic)."
Handa's last rites will take place on June 18 at 1 pm in Mumbai. It is not known if PeeCee will fly down to Mumbai for the funeral.
Meanwhile, Mannara was seen rushing back to Mumbai on Monday evening after learning about her father's death. The actress struggled to hold her tears back as the paps condoled her father's demise at the airport and she looked visibly distressed and heartbroken. She refrained from interacting with the paparazzi, and along with her sister Mitali, zoomed off straight to their mother.
Handa was also the paternal uncle of actress Parineeti Chopra.
As for Priyanka, she is currently gearing up for the release of her Hollywood project, Heads Of State, co-starring John Cena and Idris Elba.
She is also set to mark her comeback in Bollywood with SS Rajamouli's magnum opus, starring Mahesh Babu in the lead. The film has been tentatively titled SSMB29, and a couple of months ago, both PeeCee and Mahesh Babu were spotted shooting for the film with Rajamouli in Odisha.
