Trump denies exiting G7 Summit over Israel-Iran ceasefire, slams Macron for ‘always getting it wrong’; ‘it is much bigger than…’

U.S. President Donald Trump strongly criticized French President Emmanuel Macron for saying that Trump left the G7 Summit early to help with a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Trump denied this and said his early exit had nothing to do with the conflict.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Publicity-seeking President Emmanuel Macron wrongly claimed that I left the G7 Summit in Canada to work on a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Not true! He has no idea why I’m going back to Washington, but it’s about something much bigger. Macron always seems to get it wrong. Stay tuned!”

At the summit, Macron had told reporters that Trump might be trying to push for a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, as he had announced he would be leaving early. Macron said, “There’s been an offer made, including a possible ceasefire and opening the door to more talks. Let’s see if both sides accept it.”

Macron said this was a positive sign, and added, “I think peace talks should start again, and protecting civilians is the priority.” He also said he didn’t expect quick results, but since the U.S. supports the ceasefire and can put pressure on Israel, things could change.

Trump, however, earlier told reporters that he was leaving the summit early for important reasons, though he didn’t say exactly why. “I’ll be leaving after the dinner with these wonderful leaders,” he had said.

Meanwhile, the fighting between Israel and Iran is getting worse. It has now continued for five days, and Iran has fired several missiles at Israel. Trump has also asked Americans to leave Tehran as the situation grows more dangerous.
