Mumbai News: Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane Urges 'Speedy Completion' Of Versova Creek Fishing Harbour
Mumbai: Maharashtra Minister for Fisheries and Ports Nitesh Rane has directed officials to expedite the construction of the proposed fishing harbour at Versova Creek and complete it at the earliest.
Rane was chairing a meeting at Mantralaya to review the progress of the fishing harbour projects at Versova and Satpati, as well as the fisheries training centre at Alibaug.
Rane emphasized that the livelihood of fishermen in the Versova Creek area largely depends on fishing, and therefore, the project should be accorded administrative approval from the central government and work should commence expeditiously.
The minister also reviewed the construction of the fisheries training centre at Alibaug and directed officials to conduct a structural audit of the building and submit a report.
Additionally, the development of the fishing harbour at Satpati in Palghar district was also discussed during the meeting. Maharashtra Maritime Board CEO P. Pradeep, Fisheries Commissioner Kishor Tawde, and other officials were present during the meeting.
