Shastri, popularly known for his traditional and spiritual image, faced a wave of trolling online after the clip showed him in branded clothing, far from his usual avatar. Netizens mocked his attire and questioned how a spiritual guru could embrace such a modern, flashy look.

He further added, “I don’t post videos about worthless people.” He warned not to post anything like this from next time. He clarified that the money he receives in his Katha sessions from disciples, is not spent on personal luxuries but instead, the money goes into the marriage of poor girls and the construction of cancer hospital,”.

He expressed his disappointment and said " It's weird that we live in a society, where rapists, miscreants, alcoholics and junkies are not questioned for their morals, but people never miss an opportunity to mock 'Sanatan' or 'Hinduism' ".

He mocked the person who posted the video and said "The next time you post something and accuse me, you'll find me wearing Prada's shades and Jackson's Jacket."

He further clarified "I don't enjoy embracing a lavish lifestyle, I like to live with humility and a modest lifestyle. But my disciples plead me to live for myself and gift me these things".
