Air India Plane Crash Claims Ahmedabad Couple's Lives; Grieving Sister Dies Of Heart Attack
The Parmar family from Rakhiyana in Ahmedabad district suffered the loss of two members in the 12 June Air India plane crash, one of India's deadliest aviation disasters in recent history. Bhogilal Parmar, 57, and his wife Hansa, 55, were among the 241 victims of the Boeing Dreamliner crash.
Before the family could come to terms with this tragedy, they were struck by another devastating blow. Bhogilal's elder sister, Gomti Parmar, 65, collapsed and died instantly upon hearing news of her brother and sister-in-law's deaths.
Her son Sagar, a resident of Vaghala near Patdi in Surendranagar, told the Times of India: "My mother shared an incredibly strong bond with my uncle. Learning about the accident and discovering virtually no one survived was too much for her heart to bear."
The Parmar couple had been embarking on their first overseas trip to visit their son in the UK, who had invited them as his wife was expecting their first child this week.
When family members gathered at their ancestral home in Lamba, Ahmedabad, to mourn together, Gomti was overwhelmed by grief. In a tragic twist, her funeral was held on Friday before her younger brother's, as his remains are still undergoing identification.
