Sensing defeat, AAP govt harassing BJP workers even before poll: Jiwan Gupta
On the last day of campaigning for the Ludhiana West Assembly byelection, BJP workers campaigned door-to-door vigorously in favour of party candidate Jiwan Gupta. During the door-to-door campaigning, a street meeting was organised in Ram Bagh of Ward 59 under the chairmanship of Vinod Garg.
Addressing voters in the street meeting, Gupta said the AAP government was harassing and troubling BJP workers even before the elections, sensing its defeat. Police raids are being conducted in houses of BJP workers on the orders of the AAP government so that the morale of the workers was broken. But the government was forgetting that it could not scare BJP workers by adopting a dictatorial attitude.
He said the police have begun to harass BJP party workers at the behest of the ruling party. He specifically mentioned an incident on Tuesday where the police allegedly raided a party worker’s house, searching not only the house but also opening almirahs without any justifiable reason.
Meanwhile, BJP Mahila Morcha protested against the AAP government in Jawahar Nagar Camp under the leadership of Pradhan Sheenu Chug. Punjab Mahila Morcha president Jai Indra Kaur, Punjab BJP secretary Renu Thapar, Punjab BJP Mahila Morcha vice-president Rashi Agarwal, Leena Taparia, etc, took part. During the protest, Jai Indra Kaur lashed out at AAP and said before coming to power, AAP had promised to give Rs 1,100 per month to women. But even after three-and-a-half years, the AAP government has not fulfilled the promise, which was a complete betrayal with women.
