Iran Israel war: Superspeed, accurate target… how powerful is Iran’s hypersonic Fatah-1 missile with which it attacked Israel
The tension between Iran and Israel on Wednesday escalated with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei promising to give a strong response to the terrorist Zionist regime. In a post on X, said, “In the name of God, the battle begins.” Khamenei’s big warning came after Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps on Wednesday said that hypersonic missiles were used during the latest attack on Israel.
Recently, Iran used its Fatah-1 hypersonic missile to attack Israel, which it first introduced in 2024. This missile is known for its superspeed, accurate targeting and indigenous technology. Iran claims that the Fatah-1 is made entirely of indigenous technology. Despite sanctions, Iran has strengthened its missile technology, which also sees some influence from technology from Russia, China and North Korea.
What is Fatah-1 missile?
Fatah-1 is Iran’s first hypersonic ballistic missile, developed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). It was first demonstrated in 2023. It was used in the attack on Israel in 2024. This missile is a ground-to-ground missile. Due to its high speed and evasion ability, it is capable of penetrating enemy defense systems.
Main features of Fatah-1
The speed of Fatah-1 is approximately 16000-18500 kilometers per hour. That is, it is 13-15 times faster than the speed of sound. It is so fast that it is extremely difficult to track and stop it. This missile can reach from Iran to Israel’s capital Tel Aviv in just 400 seconds (about 6-7 minutes).
Its range is up to 1400 kilometers. This distance is enough to target many countries in the Middle East, such as Israel, Saudi Arabia and others.
Fatah-1 has advanced navigation system and precise guidance technology. It can hit its target within a radius of 10 meters. This means that it is capable of carrying out highly accurate attacks.
This missile can maneuver both inside and outside the atmosphere (exo-atmospheric). Its irregular flight path (maneuverable trajectory) helps it to dodge enemy radar and defense systems.
The Fatah-1 can carry up to 460 kg of explosives, making it capable of causing massive damage.
