Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday took to social platform X to announce a new FASTag-based annual pass for ₹3,000. The yearly pass would come into effect from this year’s anniversary of India’s Independence Day, August 15, 2025.
The FASTag annual pass is valid for a year from its date of activation or up to 200 trips, whichever comes first.
The activation and renewals of the pass would be made available by the highways ministry through the Rajmarg Yatra App. The official websites of NHAI and MoRTH would also have the capability to activate and renew this pass.
“In a transformative step towards hassle-free highway travel, we are introducing a FASTag-based Annual Pass priced at ₹3,000, effective from August 15, 2025. Valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips—whichever comes first—this pass is designed exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans,” announced Gadkari.
This new pass comes after many regular long-range commuters sought a hassle-free annual solution that they could simply recharge and forget, rather than going through the pricey hassle of each FASTag recharge individually.
“The Annual Pass will enable seamless and cost-effective travel across National Highways throughout the country. A dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon be made available on the Rajmarg Yatra App as well as on the official websites of NHAI and MoRTH,” added the union highways minister.
“This policy addresses long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas located within a 60km range and simplifies toll payments through a single, affordable transaction. By reducing wait times, easing congestion, and minimizing disputes at toll plazas, the Annual Pass aims to deliver a faster and smoother travel experience for millions of private vehicle owners,” he stated.
