New flyover: New flyover will be built in this area of Delhi, there will be relief from traffic jam

There is a plan to build a flyover from Jhandewalan to Ajmeri Gate to make Deshbandhu Gupta Road jam-free. Traffic police and PWD have suggested this after conducting a survey, in which there is a proposal to connect the ROB built near Ajmeri Gate.

New Delhi: A plan is being made to build a flyover to make the stretch from Jhandewalan to Ajmeri Gate of Deshbandhu Gupta Road jam-free. The traffic police and PWD have surveyed this stretch and suggested the construction of a flyover. There is a plan to join the road overbridge (ROB) already built near Ajmeri Gate. So that this entire stretch of about 2 km becomes signal free.

The total length of Deshbandhu Gupta Road is about 4.5 km

According to PWD officials, the total length of Deshbandhu Gupta Road is about 4.5 km. This road starts from the Punjabi Basti of Anand Parvat and goes up to Ajmeri Gate. There are many intersections and T-junctions in this stretch, due to which there is always a jam situation on this road during peak hours, but among these, the Rani Jhansi Road-Deshbandhu Gupta Road and Sadar Thana Road-Deshbandhu Gupta Road intersections have the most jam situation.

Entry to the busiest Sadar Bazar and Nabi Karib areas of Old Delhi is from these two intersections. If flyovers are constructed on these two intersections of Deshbandhu Gupta Road, then the problem of traffic jam in this area can be resolved to some extent. There are Faiz Road, Gurudwara Road, Ajmal Khan Road, Guru Ravidas Marg and some T-junctions on Deshbandhu Gupta Road.

Survey plan is being made Officials say that there is a distance of 425 meters between Rani Jhansi Road and Paharganj intersection located on Deshbandhu Gupta Road. Similarly, the distance from Rani Jhansi Road roundabout to the ROB built near New Delhi Railway Station is about one km. In such a situation, there is a plan for a 1.5 km long flyover to make both the intersections jam free. The initial report of the flyover construction has been submitted. Now a plan is being made to get a survey done by a private agency for the feasibility test. After this, this report will be submitted to UTIPEC.
