Second youth arrested for threatening Amritsar-based influencer Deepika Luthra
The Amritsar police commissionerate has made another arrest for threatening local social media influencer Deepika Luthra.
He has been identified as Jaspreet Singh, a resident of Dhillo Nagar in Ludhiana.
Earlier, the police had arrested Ramandeep Singh of Patiala in the case who is currently in three-day police remand. He had threatened her on her Instagram account.
Besides, the police had also booked self-styled vigilante and now absconding Nihang Sikh Amritpal Singh Mehron for death threats to Luthra. He is the key conspirator in the murder case of Ludhiana-based influencer Kamal Kaur Bhabhi in Bathinda and has been accused of threatening other social media influencers of dire consequences.
Mehron had escaped to Dubai from Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport immediately after killing Kamal Kaur. The Bathinda police had arrested two associates of Mehron who had also issued threats to some foreign influencers for posting vulgar and double-meaning content.
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar had confirmed the arrest of Jaspreet Singh while adding that further probe was on while assuring strict action against those involved in the case.
“Whoever is found involved in the Deepika Luthra death threat case would be dealt with an iron hand,” said the police commissioner. Both the suspects were arrested following the technical investigations and Intelligence inputs. After Mehron, they had also threatened her of dire consequences.
The Amritsar-based influencer having 2.3 lakh followers was given two armed security men by the police after she approached the police commissioner seeking security.
