Minor Girl Found Dead in Keonjhar; Gang-Rape and Murder Alleged

Keonjhar: A 17-year-old girl was found hanging from a tree near her home in the Pandapada police station area of Keonjhar district, triggering widespread outrage and allegations of gang-rape and murder.

The incident, coming on the heels of the recent gang-rape case at Gopalpur beach in Ganjam, has heightened concerns about women’s safety in the state.

According to the victim’s family, the girl went missing after leaving home late Monday night. Her body was discovered by locals at dawn, prompting immediate police action. Bloodstained clothing found near the scene has fueled suspicions of sexual assault prior to her death, as per media reports.

Enraged villagers blocked roads, demanding swift justice. The protests subsided after assurances from the local administration and Telkoi MLA, who vowed a thorough investigation and strict action against the culprits.

Police have detained two suspects for questioning, and the victim’s body has been sent for autopsy at Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital.
