Postal Dept to deliver voter IDs at homes
Haryana Chief Election Officer (CEO) Pankaj Agarwal said the Election Commission of India had issued a new standard operating procedure to deliver photo identity cards to voters within 15 days at their homes. He said this service would be available after making corrections in new registration of voters, any change in the status of existing voters or any other alteration. After making corrections, voter ID cards would be delivered to voters at their respective homes through the Postal Department.
Under this system, voter ID cards can be tracked at every stage by citizens. Besides, a citizen will be informed about the status of his/her voter ID’s shipment delivery through an SMS on cellphone.
