Negi reviews Kinnaur-Kailash yatra arrangements, issues key directions

Revenue and Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi today presided over a review meeting at Reckong Peo, Kinnaur, to oversee preparations for the upcoming Kinnaur-Kailash Yatra. He directed all concerned departments to ensure timely and efficient arrangements for the successful conduct of the Yatra, which holds deep spiritual significance for devotees.

Negi interacted with representatives of Ribba, Purvni, Pawari and Tangling panchayats, discussing the Yatra logistics in detail. He issued instructions to regulate green fee collection, tent rental charges, and to ensure the provision of basic amenities like clean drinking water, solar lighting, public toilets, oxygen cylinders, and proper halts for pilgrims. He also emphasised the deployment of adequate personnel from the Police, Home Guard, and Forest Department to ensure the safety of the pilgrims and manage emergencies.

The minister directed the formation of a Quick Response Team and instructed health department officials to provide comprehensive medical facilities throughout the Yatra route. He urged local Panchayat stakeholders to actively support the district administration to ensure smooth execution of the pilgrimage.

Negi also said funds collected through green fees would be audited to ensure better facilities for future yatras. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kalpa, Amit Kalthaik, briefed the Minister on the arrangements already made by the district administration.

In a separate review of schemes under the Public Works Department in Kalpa and Nichar divisions, the minister instructed officials to install crash barriers at accident-prone spots, maintain road quality, and ensure timely completion of construction works. Given the monsoon and the upcoming apple harvest season, he also emphasised keeping link roads in good condition to facilitate the smooth transportation of cash crops by local farmers and horticulturists.
