MP June 19 Weather Update: Thunderstorm To Lash State Till June 22; Heavy Rain Alert For Bhopal, Gwalior & More

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Monsoon has spread across 54 out of 55 districts in Madhya Pradesh within just three days.

Only Bhind district is left, where rain is expected to arrive by Thursday. With this, thunderstorms and rainfall are likely across the entire state.

According to senior weather scientist Dr. Divya E. Surendran, two low-pressure areas and three cyclonic systems are active, which will cause heavy rainfall in many parts of the state for the next four days.

Some areas may receive very heavy rainfall, between 2.5 to 8 inches in 24 hours.

Weather Forecast

June 19: Heavy rainfall alert (orange alert) for Sheopur, Morena, and Guna. Thunderstorms and rain are also likely in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur.

  • June 20: Very heavy rainfall alert for Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli. Heavy rain is likely in Satna, Panna, Maihar, Shahdol, Anuppur, Shivpuri, and Ashoknagar. Rain and thunderstorms expected in the rest of the districts too.

  • June 21: Very heavy rain alert again for Rewa and Sidhi. Heavy rainfall expected in Satna, Panna, and Narsinghpur. Thunderstorms and rain may continue across other parts of the state.

  • June 22: Very heavy rain may hit Sagar, Damoh, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, and Ashoknagar. Strong rainfall is also likely in Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Katni, Jabalpur, and Dindori. The weather will stay rainy and stormy in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and other districts.

This year, monsoon arrived in India eight days earlier than usual and entered states like Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh before time.

Experts had predicted that monsoon would reach Madhya Pradesh in the first week of June, but it got delayed. It remained stuck in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh for about 15 days.

It finally started moving forward on June 13–14 and entered MP one day later than normal. However, it quickly covered the entire state in just three days.

Normally, monsoon enters Madhya Pradesh around June 15. Last year, it arrived on June 21.
