Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Orders Timely Land Acquisition For Key Infrastructure Projects

Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed all concerned departments to ensure timely land acquisition for key infrastructure projects across the state, emphasizing that no project should be delayed due to land-related issues.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at his official residence ‘Varsha’ to assess the status of land acquisition for major road, rail, and airport projects, CM Fadnavis stressed the importance of completing these acquisitions as per the stipulated timelines. “Delays in land acquisition lead to cost escalations. All departments have been given specific timelines, and these must be strictly adhered to,” the Chief Minister said during the meeting. He directed officials to work in ‘mission mode’ and to handle land acquisition with urgency, seriousness, and efficiency.

CM Fadnavis recommended a provision of Rs 53,354 crore for land acquisition related to 11 ambitious infrastructure projects across the state.

CM Fadanvis directed Shaktipeeth Expressway plan should be finalized through the Gati Shakti portal, minimizing impact on forest land. The finance department was directed to allocate Rs 12,000 crore for land acquisition for this project. For the Project of Virar–Alibaug corridor, Fadanvis directed clearances related to forest and mangrove areas between Morbe and Karanja should be expedited. Administrative procedures should run in parallel with the clearance process.

CM Fadanavis directed a proposal for inclusion of the Vadhavan–Igatpuri Expressway in the Sagarmala project and Land acquisition in Selu, Parbhani district for the Jalna–Nanded Expressway must be completed within 15 days.

CM fadanavis directed Final plans for Bhandara–Gadchiroli, Nagpur–Chandrapur, and Nagpur–Gondia expressways should be finalized through the Gati Shakti portal and land acquisition for Wardha–Nanded and Wardha–Gadchiroli railways must also be completed within 15 days.

CM Fadanvis also reviewed projects related to Airport Development too. He directed that the Gadchiroli airport should be surveyed using OLS (Obstacle Limitation Surfaces), and the district collector is to submit a proposal accordingly. The Akola airport runway should be extended to 2400 meters, with plans to develop a modern, larger airport.

Highways: Nagpur–Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway, Virar–Alibaug Corridor, Jalna–Nanded Expressway, Pune Ring Road (East, West and extension), Bhandara–Gadchiroli Expressway, Nagpur–Chandrapur Expressway, Nagpur–Gondia Expressway, and Vadhavan–Igatpuri Expressway.

Rail Projects: Wardha–Nanded and Wardha–Gadchiroli rail lines.

Airports: Land acquisition status for airports in Kolhapur, Karad, Akola, Gadchiroli, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
