Mumbai News: MIDC Police File Case Against Man For Exploiting Doctor Met On Dating App

Mumbai: The MIDC Police have filed a case against 27-year-old Khalid Khanyari, a resident of Dongri, Mumbai, for establishing a relationship with a 28-year-old woman doctor through the dating app Hinge. The accused, Khalid, is charged with engaging in physical relations with her, coercing her into an abortion when she became pregnant, and later threatening to defame her and ruin her medical career by making their photos viral on social media and sending them to her parents after he got engaged to someone else.

According to the FIR, the victim doctor — originally from Raigad district and currently employed at a hospital in Andheri East — had earlier worked as a Resident Medical Officer (R.M.O.) at a reputed hospital in Belapur, Navi Mumbai, from December 2022 to February 2025. During that time, she became acquainted with the accused, Khalid, through the dating app Hinge.

Khalid told her he lived in Dongri and that his family was involved in the Kashmiri shawl and carpet business. Their friendship grew into a relationship, and in October 2023, Khalid allegedly started visiting her residence in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai, where they engaged in physical relations.

In February 2025, after she joined a hospital in Andheri (East), and moved into the staff quarters. On March 2, she discovered she was pregnant. Upon learning this, Khalid reportedly insisted her to terminate the pregnancy, but she refused. However, he emotionally pressured her by telling her that both their lives would be ruined, and urged her to consider her parents' future. On March 11, he gave her abortion pills.

She took the pills on March 20, and Khalid ensured this via a video call. Later, on March 31, Khalid met her at the Gateway of India and took her to a lodge, where they again had physical relations. As she continued to feel unwell due to the medication, she consulted a multi-speciality clinic in Vile Parle, where she was told that the medical abortion was incomplete.

Khalid began avoiding her. On April 22, she went to his house in Dongri, but he wasn’t there. She informed his parents about their relationship, but they told her that Khalid was already engaged to another woman.

When she confronted, Khalid falsely accused the victim of not taking the pills properly and started an argument. He told her to undergo a Dilation and Curettage (D&C) procedure. He also allegedly manipulated conversations to portray her as emotionally unstable, and also claimed that he never made any commitments to her and that she was forcing him to stay with her because she was depressed, collecting messages as "evidence" to support his claims.

Feeling cheated, the victim underwent a D&C procedure in Marol, Andheri East, on May 20. Afterwards, she then contacted Khalid’s fiancée about their relationship. In retaliation, Khalid allegedly called the victim and threatened her, saying she had ruined his life. He also threatened to make their private photos viral on social media and send them to her parents, and to destroy her medical career.

Following her complaint, MIDC Police have registered a case against Khalid Khanyari under Sections 351(2) and 89 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Act.
