Pune VIDEO: Kharadi Police Rescue Biker Stranded On Mula-Mutha River Embankment

The Pune City Police, on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, shared a video on Thursday evening showing Kharadi Police officials rescuing a biker stranded on an embankment on the Mula-Mutha River.

As seen in the video, the biker was stranded on the embankment as the river’s water level rose following heavy rains. After noticing him, the Kharadi Police officials formed a human chain and safely evacuated him.

Meanwhile, incessant rains in Pune city and its surrounding catchment areas led to water entering several localities and housing societies in low-lying areas.

Water released from the Khadakwasla dam, which supplies drinking water to the city, worsened the situation in these areas.

The city has been witnessing heavy rainfall since Wednesday night. The catchment areas of Khadakwasla and other dams have also been receiving continuous downpour. As a result, the irrigation department is releasing water from the Khadakwasla dam.

Due to this water discharge, the low-lying Bhide Bridge—a causeway built over the Mutha River—became submerged. Residents of Pune generally consider the submergence of this causeway an indicator of good rainfall in the catchment areas.

People residing in the Hingane area on Sinhagad Road, located along the Mutha River, complained of rainwater entering their homes early in the morning.

Additionally, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Pune district for the next 24 hours.
