Death in police custody: Raipur Rani SHO sent to lines amid judicial probe
In connection with the case of alleged suicide of a Hangola resident at the Raipur Rani police station, the deceased’s post-mortem was conducted by a medical board under videographic documentation in the presence of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM).
Besides, the statements of the deceased’s family members, local villagers and other concerned individuals were recorded.
The bereaved family met with the Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police, where they raised serious concerns and grievances over the incident.
The Commissioner assured the family that the investigation would be carried out in a completely impartial, transparent, and just manner. He also stated that if negligence or fault of any individual comes to light, strict action will be taken in accordance with the law.
Pending the outcome of the inquiry, the investigation officer, the concerned constable, and the Munshi of Raipur Rani Police Station have been sent to Police Lines and disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against them.
Additionally, based on the complaint lodged by the deceased’s family, an FIR has been registered today at the Raipur Rani police station under Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the SC/ST Act.
