Over 3,000 youth placed at job fair held on Rahul’s birthday
A mega job fair organised jointly by the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) and the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) at Talkatora Indoor Stadium on the occasion of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s birthday, on Thursday, saw massive participation by over 10,000 job aspirants.
The event culminated with 3,391 candidates receiving on-the-spot appointment letters, fulfilling what organisers described as a key commitment made by Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra and Nyay Yatra.
Over 100 leading companies, including Tata, HDFC Bank, Airtel, Mahindra, Amazon, Samsung, Hero, Flipkart, Axis Bank, and Radisson, participated in the fair, conducting spot interviews throughout the day. The event began with the National Anthem and concluded with job offers handed to deserving youth from across Delhi.
DPCC president Devender Yadav said the heavy turnout of unemployed youth at the job fair exposed the failure of the Central Government and the former AAP Government in Delhi to create jobs in the last 11 years. He said despite being in opposition, the Congress had stepped up to provide tangible support to unemployed youth. “This mega job fair proves that the Congress is serious about its promise to provide jobs and protect the Constitution and democracy,” Yadav said.
Senior Congress leaders, including AICC General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal, Sachin Pilot, and IYC president Uday Bhanu Chib, distributed the appointment letters to the selected youth. The event was also attended by AICC Delhi in-charge Qazi Nizamuddin, AICC secretary Neeraj Kundan, former Delhi Minister Narendra Nath, and other prominent leaders of the Delhi Congress.
Devender Yadav also visited the AICC headquarters earlier in the day to extend birthday wishes to Rahul Gandhi. He later prayed for Gandhi’s health and well-being at Valmiki Mandir and marked the day with a gesture of social outreach by distributing folding walking sticks to blind students at Andh Mahavidyalaya and Institution for the Blind in Panchkuian Road.
Yadav said Congress workers across Delhi had conducted a 10-day mobilisation drive, encouraging youth to register both online and offline for the job fair through 258 block Congress committees. The overwhelming turnout, he said, was far beyond expectations and reflected the grim reality of unemployment in the capital.
Despite not being in power, the Congress’s effort in organising such a large-scale employment event was welcomed by the attendees as a hopeful step towards addressing joblessness. “This is what Rahul Gandhi stands for – creating opportunities and empowering the youth,” Yadav said.
