'Oh, SC? Stand There': Andhra BJP MLA’s Casteist Snub Of Dalit Sarpanch Goes Viral — Video

A video allegedly showing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA PV Parthasarathi refusing to share a stage with a Dalit sarpanch has triggered widespread condemnation and reignited debates over caste-based discrimination.

The footage, which surfaced online and has since gone viral, appears to show the Adoni MLA standing outside a temple, calling out to the village sarpanch, saying, “Hey sarpanch, why are you standing there? Come here,” while pointing to a spot next to him on a raised platform.

Moments later, a woman beside him, identified as a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Mahila leader, responds, “He is a Scheduled Caste (SC), sir.” The MLA is then reportedly heard asking, "Oh, SC ha? Okay… stand there." Following this exchange, the sarpanch is directed to remain below the stage, with both leaders allegedly motioning to keep him off the platform.

The TDP leader is seen covering her face repeatedly with her dupatta, seemingly to avoid being recorded.

The video has sparked outrage across social media platforms, with users accusing the leaders of perpetuating casteist attitudes. Critics cited the visual evidence—including body language and hand gestures—as reflective of systemic discrimination still prevalent in many rural settings.

Dalit rights groups and opposition leaders have demanded accountability and called for immediate action against those involved.
