Man’s body found hanging at hotel in Chandigarh

The body of a 28-year-old man was found hanging in a room of a hotel in Sector 52 here on Friday evening.

The deceased was identified as Deepak, a resident of Balachaur, Punjab. He worked at a factory in Ropar and had reportedly been missing for several days. His family had been making frantic efforts to find him and reached Hari Residency, a hotel in Sector 52, while tracing his location. Deepak’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in one of the rooms he checked in three days ago. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, raising questions about the cause of the death.

According to police sources and statements of Deepak’s family members, he had checked into the hotel alone. His family, however, suspected foul play and claimed that the hotel management concealed his presence there, despite repeated enquiries over the past few days.

Adding to the mystery, it has been alleged that Deepak had been depressed and was possibly being blackmailed by a woman for undisclosed reasons.
