New Delhi: Turkey seems to be ahead of Pakistan in duplicity. Just as on one hand Pakistan talks about standing with Iran and on the other hand Army Chief Asim Munir meets Trump, something similar is being seen on the issue of Turkey. Turkey is currently hosting the summit of the Organization of Muslim Countries (OIC), in which the biggest issue is going to be the Iran Israel war and Palestine. But Turkey is also going to conduct war exercises with Israel’s closest friend and ally, the United States.
Joint military exercise
The US Defense Department’s media service said that the US will join NATO allies in the multinational air force exercise organized by Turkey/Turkiye from June 23 to July 4. Fighter jets of the US 31st Fighter Wing stationed at Aviano Airbase in Italy will take part in the ‘Anatolian Eagle 25’ drill, which will be held at the third main jet base in the central Turkish city of Konya.
The USA is already increasing its presence in the Middle East and is likely preparing to attack Iran if any situation arises. In such a situation, Turkey’s invitation to the US army for war exercises on its land can become a cause of concern for Iran because America can take advantage of this to attack Iran.
Advantage for America
Not only America but the air forces of many countries are participating in this drill, the purpose of this drill is to improve operational coordination through joint combat training in realistic conditions. Brigadier General Tad D. Clark, commander of the 31st Fighter Wing, said that the exercises provide ‘real high-level training and strengthen the ability of allied forces to work together.’
This exercise is taking place at a time when instability remains in the Middle East, the Israel-Iran conflict is in its second week and there is a fear of it spreading to neighbouring areas.
Turkey pushing Syria back
At present, the Israeli Air Force is attacking Iran using Syria’s airspace. Syria has a Turkish-backed Al Sharaa government. According to reports, Turkey has instructed Syria to stay away from the Israel-Iran war. In such a situation, questions are being raised on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan whether he really wants to become the leader of Muslims or has some other agenda.
