Yashasvi Jaiswal made Jasprit Bumrah hide his face during India vs England Test match due to…..
New Delhi: On the second day of the first Test being played between India and England at Headingley, Leeds, an interesting scene was witnessed when pacer Jasprit Bumrah hide his face with a hat after Yashasavi Jaiswal missed a catch of Ollie Pope. Bumrah was once again India’s most successful bowler in England’s first innings and he dismissed both Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. However, when Ollie Pope was on 60, he had an edge on Bumrah’s delivery but Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped an easy catch at second slip, leaving Bumrah looking quite frustrated.
Jadeja also missed a catch, Duckett gave a big blow
Earlier, Bumrah created a chance against Ben Duckett in the direction of point in his very first spell, but Ravindra Jadeja missed that easy chance too, with the batsmen on only 15 runs. These two dropped catches hurt India considerably, as Duckett and Pope combined for a big 124-run partnership for the second wicket to take charge of the England innings. After tea, Bumrah again came back and bowled Duckett out.
India’s collapse after Gill and Pant’s brilliant partnership
The Indian innings started the day brilliantly. Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant shared a big 209-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Gill scored 147 runs on his debut as captain, the second-highest score by any Indian batsman in the role. Pant, on the other hand, played a storming innings of 134 runs in 178 balls, which included 12 fours and six sixes. But as soon as they were both out, the Indian innings collapsed. India 430/3 to 471 all out. Ben Stokes took four wickets for 66 and Josh Tongue took four for 86 for England.
